History & Description

Origin

The Arcobal, or 'Arcobaleno' (rainbow in Italian), is a spectacular modern hybrid obtained in Italy. It comes from a cross between the Meyer lemon and the 'Doppio Sanguigno' blood orange, combining the genetics of the lemon and the orange.

Tree description

It is a highly ornamental tree, moderately vigorous, sometimes thorny. It stands out for its dense foliage and its ability to bear fruit in changing colors, often striped, creating a unique visual effect.

Fruit quality

The fruit is round and medium-sized, with an orange skin striped with dark red at ripeness, very decorative. The flesh is orange, sometimes pigmented with red, and very juicy.

Flavor and ornamental interest

The taste is a complex blend of the aromatic acidity of the Meyer lemon and the fruity sweetness of the blood orange. It is used equally as a sweet lemon or as a tart juice orange. Its ornamental value is exceptional.
